Friday, October 20

1:00 p.m.--1:45 p.m.:  Tours of Goizueta Business School conducted by current BBA students. Meet at arch next to Highland Bakery at Goizueta Business School.

2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.:  SESSIONS 

3:15 p.m.-4:15 p.m.:  SESSIONS       

 4:15 p.m.—5:00 p.m.:  Tours of Goizueta Business Schools conducted by current BBA students.

8:00 p.m. EMORY WIND ENSEMBLE, Schwartz Center, Emerson Concert Hall

In this Family Weekend concert, the Emory Wind Ensemble presents the world premiere of celebrated filmmaker Nikoloz Kevkhishvili’s newest film, In Her Image, with an original score by Richard Prior, conducted by Paul Bhasin. Also, five brass soloists of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra perform together in a special rendition of Leonard Bernstein’s Mass in celebration of the Bernstein Centennial.   • “Upper class Housing at Emory” with Kayla Hamilton, Assoc. Director, and Scott Hackett, Complex Director, Residence Life, (SAAC Room 316). Optional tour of Clairmont Campus to follow.
  • “Career Center 101” with Paul Fowler, Executive Director, Career Center (AMUC 2nd floor, Harland Cinema)

Throughout the day: Family Weekend Meal* options: Check out the variety of dining options on campus including:  the DUCling, Cox Hall, The Depot, Highland Bakery in Goizueta Business School, SAAC Café, and Starbuck’s at Emory Bookstore. 

*Dooley Dollars may be used at all of these venues. Dooley Dollars are separate from the meal plan and are used as a declining balance. 

10:00 a.m-11:30 a.m.: 12th Annual Legacy Brunch and Pinning Ceremony (Miller-Ward Alumni House). Invitation only. (A legacy is a child or grandchild or sibling of an Emory alumnus)

  •  “Protest, Patriotism, and Slavery in African American Literature” with Michelle Y. Gordon, Senior Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Studies, Department of African American Studies (White Hall 205)
  • “Exploring the Chemistry of the Universe” with Susanna Widicus Weaver, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry (White Hall 206)

10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.:  Admissions information session for Family Weekend and Homecoming attendees led by an Emory Admissions Counselor. Oxford Road BuildingRegistration required (no charge) at: apply.emory.edu/homecoming_visit 

11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.-Optional admissions tour of campus led by a current student with reception to follow.

  • “Going Global: Study Abroad Opportunities in Emory College” with Associate Director Jeremy Billetdeaux (AMUC 2nd floor, Harland Cinema)
  • “Learning the Arab-Israeli Conflict: Teaching or Preaching in the Classroom” with Kenneth W. Stein, Professor, Contemporary Middle Eastern History (White Hall 205)
  • “Mosquitoes, Viruses and Supercomputers: Using Science to Improve Zika Virus Emergency Control” with Gonzalo Vazquez-Prokopec, Assistant Professor, Environmental Sciences (White Hall 206)

Meet and greet with our Emory alumni authors and learn more about their books.

12:30 p.m.: HOMECOMING PARADE, Asbury Circle. Join President Claire Sterk in this entertaining Emory tradition! Spread the Emory spirit!

1:00 p.m.:  Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Meet Woodruff PE Center

1:00 p.m.:  Women’s Soccer v. Roanoke, Woodruff PE Center Soccer Field

1:30 p.m.:  Cookie Social in the Emory Bookstore, Second floor. Come satisfy your sweet tooth at the bookstore while you browse for Emory gifts and apparel.
